July is always a crazy month for me. I have two sisters, both of their birthdays are in July as well as my Mum’s (and a few of my best friends too) so we usually go out for at least one family meal to celebrate.

Here’s my mum and dad looking very cute!

This year we went to Wright Bros, the Spitalfields branch. We had a table booked for the outside seating area which ended up being a better choice. It’s been pretty muggy in London the last couple of weeks and the inside area looked like it was lacking in space other than the bar area.

Our table was surrounded by plants and herbs which I obviously loved. I made many comments on the state of the basil throughout the evening as I am now an expert in growing herbs.

Our waiter was excellent and was clearly told before we arrived as he immediately gave us the cocktail menu and reeled off the drink of the day.

The cocktails were delicious and beautifully presented. I do like a fancy looking cocktail.

This was my cocktail, Just Because. Try this if you love sweet but sharp cocktails

While we had drinks we ordered our food. We all had starters and mains. I went for the beef tataki and salt baked sea bream for my order. I’ve never had salt baked bream before and thought it was a great opportunity to try it. I try really hard to be adventurous with food (unless I go to Nando’s. I’ve probably had the same thing there for about 10 years)

Salt baked sea bream main

I really enjoyed my starter and I loved the sea bream! I would definitely have it again (and next time I’ll be more prepared for all the fish bones!) I think everybody loved their food except Dad, who thought his fish was nice but a bit average. But Tommy had the same thing and really liked it (as well as the fish eye he ate) so overall the group was pretty happy.

Crab ceviche starter

We finished off with pudding, I got a giant chocolate mousse and it was amazing! I’m a  it peculiar and I don’t like chocolate milkshake or ice cream but I LOVE chocolate mousse and this did not disappoint.

THE LOWDOWN

Best bits? The cocktails were fantastic.

Would I go back? Yes definitely. I am thinking about visiting the Borough branch. I’ve been told that the oysters are very good, and Wrights Bros do ‘£1 a pop’ oysters from 3-6pm daily.

Would I recommend it? Yes I would.

Who is it good for? City workers, hipsters and market goers.

Budget? I’d say mid range. It’s not cheap but it’s not crazy expensive either, especially for London.

Let me know if you’ve been to Wright Brothers and what you thought of it!
